Biesemeier: Below is a report on the descendants of Frederick Cord Biesemeier. About 1850, three of his sons immigrated from Germany to America, settling primarily in Stephenson and Ogle counties in Illinois. Their many descendants have been well documented by several researchers. I am indebted to the work of Alice Srackangast who has graciously shared her Biesemeier records with me. I am also grateful for the help of Roger Cramer who coordinates the USGenWeb site for Ogle county Illinois. My thanks also to Pat Fogel, Gary Price and Karen Wolber who helped me in securing records. Descendants of Frederick Cord Biesemeier

Generation No. 1

1. FREDERICK CORD BIESEMEIER was born between 1770-1790 in Lippe Detmold Germany. His name has been variously given as Frederick Cord Biesemeier and Cord Heinrich Biesemeier. Records available through the Family Search database of the Family History Library indicate a very large Biesemeier family around the town of Horn in Lippe Detmold beginning as early as the late 1600's. I have not done research on the family in Germany, but several Biesemeier descendants in America have compiled an ancestral line for three brothers who came to Illinois just after 1850. (from the records of Alice Srackangast):

Hermann Biesemeyer, born 1650
his son-
Hans Heinrich Biesemeyer, born 12 Mar 1675/6 Horn Lippe Germany, married Anna Catherine Helds
their son-
Johann Heinrich Biesemeyer, born 24 Dec 1706 Horn Germany, died 1782, married Anna Maria Elisabeth Dreves Bruns born 19 Mar 1729 Reel Kirchen Germany
their son-
Johann Freidrich Berend Biesemeier, born 19 Sep 1755 Leopoldstatt Germany, died 1833, married Wilhelmine Weber, born 1756, died 1792
their son-
Cord Heinrich Biesemeier, born 26 Jul 1771 Stumpenhagen Bega Germany, died 1846, married Katharina Hennrietta Wilhelmine Ellerbrock, born 2 Jul 1794 Fromhausen Germany, died 1853

I assume that the specific dates and locations come from Church records in Lippe Detmold Germany, but I have not had the opportunity to view these myself. The towns of Horn, Leopoldstatt, Stumpenhagen (Bega), Reel Kirchen and Fromhausen are all listed as historic towns of Lippe Detmold. Horn is the largest of the towns and has a relationship with the town of Bad Meinberg. It is often listed as Horn-Bad Meinberg today. All of these towns lay within about a 15-mile radius of the city of Detmold.

There are several different dates listed for the birth of Cord Biesemeier - 1771, 1781 and 1796. His first child of record was born in 1820, so the earlier birthdates would place him as about age forty or fifty when he began his family. According to the ancestral chart above, his mother was born in 1856 and died in 1792, so a date in the 1780’s seems most likely. His wife, MINNIE ELLERBROOK, is shown as born in 1794.

Cord Biesemeier and Minnie Ellerbrook were the parents of seven identified children: Minnie Biesemeier, Fred Biesemeier, Sophie Biesemeier, Catherine Biesemeier, Conradine Biesemeier, Henry Biesemeier, and William Biesemeier. The children were born between 1820 and 1833. Records for the three sons suggest that they were born in Leopoldstal Lippe Detmold Germany. Cord Biesemeier died in 1846, when his younger children were teenagers. Minnie Ellerbrook Biesemeier died in 1853. Around the time of her death, her three sons Fred, Henry and William Biesemeier, emigrated to the America. Apparently all of the daughters remained in Germany. Later a son of the oldest daughter, Minnie Biesemeier Blome, also emigrated to America.

The three Biesemeier brothers are not the only men of this name to come to America. There are several other Biesemeier family groups in Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma that may be
Biesemeier "Cousins".
