Descendants of Frederick Cord Biesemeier

Generation No. 2

2. WILHELMINE LOUISE KATHERINE "Minnie" Biesemeier was born on the 5th of January 1820 in Lippe Detmold Germany. It is likely that her parents were settled near the village of Leopoldstal after their marriage. Minnie Biesemeier's marriage to JOHANN FRIEDRICH BLOME was recorded in the nearby town of Horn Lippe Detmold Germany on the 5th of September 1840. Fred Blome and Minnie Biesemeier were the parents of twelve identified children. One of their middle sons, Barnhard Christopher Blome, emigrated to America with his young family about 1881. Minnie Biesemeier Blome died on the 9th of December 1903, probably in Germany.

Work on the Blome family in America has been done by descendant Pam McLaughlin and Biesemeier researcher Alice Srackangast

3. FREDERICK SIMON CHRISTOPHER "FRED" was born on the 3rd of July 1822 in Leopoldstal Lippe Detmold Germany. He was the first child of Cord Biesemeier and Minnie Ellerbrook. The family data of Alice Buthala-Srackangast gives the following recording of his marriage: "Friedrich Simon Christopher Biesemeier m. Karline Wilhelmine Behrman 22 Oct 1854 at Evangelische, Meinberg, Lippe, Germany". His father had died in 1846 and his mother in 1853, the year preceding his marriage. It was shortly after his marriage that he and his wife emigrated to America. I have not located emigration records, but it is thought that Fred Biesemeier and his two younger, single brothers, Henry and William Biesemeier, came to America together about 1854-1855.

Fred Biesemeier and MINNIE BEHRMAN settled near the town of Lena in Stephenson county Illinois. They were the parents of nine identified children: Fred Biesemeier, Sophia Biesemeier, Minnie Biesemeier, Anna Biesemeier, Louis Biesemeier, Amelia Biesemeier, Edward Biesemeier, Albert Biesemeier, and Charles Biesemeier. 4. CATHARINE FREDERIKE ELIZABETH BIESEMEIER was born on the 25th of April 1826 in Lippe Detmold, Germany. She was married to FRIEDRICH KONRAD SIMON SCHILD. The family records of Alice Buthala-Srackangast suggest that this family remained in Lippe Detmold Germany. They had four identified children: Elise Lusie Wilhemine Schild born 16 Sep 1855, Friedrich Heinrich August Schild born 20 Aug 1858, Johann Friedrich Christoph Schild born 10 Nov 1861 and Sophie Henriette Amalia Elise Schild born 12 Sept 1864.

5. SIMON HEINRICH "HENRY" BIESEMEIER was born on the 16th of June 1830 in Leopoldstal Lippe Detmold Germany. He was the sixth child and second son of Cord Biesemeier and Minnie Ellerbrook. When he was around the age of twenty-five, he emigrated with his older and younger brothers to America. We do not have details of their emigration, but they probably settled in Stephenson county Illinois shortly after their arrival in the United States. He may have begun by farming with his older, married brother Fred Biesemeier. He eventually established his own farm in Kent township and, after ten years in America, at the age of thirty-four, he was married to LOUISE NIEMEIER on the 2nd of March 1864 in Stephenson county Illinois. The marriage was performed by Charles Witte, minister of the Gospel. Louise Caroline Niemeier was fourteen years younger than her husband. She was born in Meinberg Lippe Detmold Germany on the 16th of January 1844.

Henry Biesemeier and Louise Niemeier were the parents of ten identified children: John Henry Biesemeier, Mary Louise Biesemeier, Caroline Henrietta Biesemeier, Daniel Fredrich Biesemeier, Henry Fredrich Biesemeier, William Fredrich Biesemeier, Carl Heinrich Fredrich Biesemeier, David Fredrich Ludwig Biesemeier, Herman Fredrich Biesemeier, Emil Johann Biesemeier. 6. WILHELM H "WILLIAM" BIESEMEIER was born on the 23rd of February 1833 in Leopoldstal Lippe-Detmold Germany. The town is shown as Lespeldothal in some family records. He was the youngest child of his parents, Cord Biesemeier and Minnie Ellerbrook. His father died when he was a lad of about twelve. He emigrated to America in 1854 along with his brothers Fred and Henry Biesemeier. He was about twenty-one years of age. They settled near Eleroy Erin township Stephenson county Illinois.

A few years after their arrival, William Biesemeier attended the seminary in Marthasville, Missouri. He was ordained by the German Evangelical denomination in 1862 in Cincinatti, Ohio and received a placement in Ackerville Polk township Washington county Wisconsin where he served the German community there for five years. On the 15th of September 1863 he was married to Hermine "Nina" Gassman in Stephenson county Illinois. In 1867 he was called to Ogle county Illinois where he served the churches of North Grove and Adeline for almost thirty-five years.

William Biesemeier and Nina Gassman were the parents of six children born between 1864 and 1875: Johannes Biesemeier, Josephine Biesemeier, Jonaton Biesemeier, Samuel Jessie Biesemeier, Johanna Biesemeier and Jonette Biesemeier. Johannes and Jonathon died young in the year 1870. Census records give the following details of their family:

Nina Gassman Biesemeier died on the 25th of March 1888 at the age of forty-two. She left four children between the ages of thirteen and twenty-two. Rev Biesemeier continued as a widower, serving the churches in Ogle county Illinois for another fifteen years after his wife's death. About 1903 he took up residence with his daughter Josephine and son-in-law Adolph Hoffman. They were living at Ruthven Iowa, but after 1903 they removed together to Kingfisher Kingfisher county Oklahoma.

At the time of his retirement this article appeared in the "Freeport Weekly Journal". No date:

The Evangelical churches of Adeline and North Grove have lost a beloved shepherd in the person of the Rev William Biesemeier, who preached his farewell sermon in Adeline Sunday. Mr Biesemeier has, from his sturdy qualities, his generous disposition and his pious walk among us become a very familiar figure in this part of the country. He was born Feb 13, 1833 in Lespeldothal, Lippe-Detmold Germany where he attended public school until his fourtheenth year. When twenty-one years of age, in the year 1854, he emigrated to the United States and his destination was Freeport Illinois. From that city he went to Mathersville [Marthasville] Missouri and attended the Seminary. In 1862 he graduated at Cincinnati Ohio and was ordained by the Evangelical denomination to preach the gospel. He was sent to Ackersville Wisconsin as a missionary, where he labored five years. He then received a call to North Grove and Adeline. Rev Jung living here conducted the services in the old log school house, which was purchased by the denomination and moved to the present site . . their new frame church. The fine stone edifice of North Grove which was erected in 1861, is a familiar landmark and can be seen at a great distance from all points of the compass. The reverened gentleman had a call in 1867 to Adeline, and has resided at North Grove ever since. Then the number of families in the church at Adeline was twelve, the number now is twenty-four; and North Grove, eighteen, now twenty-nine. He was married to Miss Hermena Gassman of Eleroy Illinois, September 15, 1863. They were blessed with six children, two of whom are dead. The beloved wife died March 25, 1888. During his work he has baptized five hundred and ninety-two, and conducted ninety-eight marriage ceremonies. He taught school during the winter in the German language and has had in all three hundred pupils. The mission money he has received and distributed in Asia, Africa, Turkey, etc, amounted to twenty-one thousand and two hundred dollars. And that for churches, schools, etc, eleven thousand dollars. He was always prompt to fill his appointments, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He moves to Ruthven, Iowa and will reside with Mr and Mrs Adolph Hoffman. Mrs Hoffman is his eldest daughter. He gave up the ministry about a year ago, feeling that his bodily condition should have a rest, but the brethren persuaded him and he continued another year. He was his own organist for many years and also led the song service. On Saturday night the members gave him a surprise party at the residence of his daughter Mrs C H Brookmeier. The departure of a man of such sterling worth is a misfortune to any community, and Ruthven may be congratulated on their gain. We wish him well wherever he may be and bid him farewell with our best wishes.
