1. WILLIAM HARPINE BOWMAN was born August 26, 1833 in Shenandoah co, Virginia, and died October 15, 1895 in Rockingham co, Virginia. He married EMILY FRANCES HUFFMAN. She was born January 25, 1837 in Harrisonburg, Rockingham co, Virginia, and died July 28, 1889 in Rockingham co, Virginia.

William H Bowman Collection in the Special Collections #2020, Carrier Library, James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia. Primarily bills, receipts and legal documents, mostly from the 1870's. From the Collection description: “William Harpine Bowman was born 26 Aug 1833 in Shenandoah co, Va and married Emily Frances Huffman in Harrisonburg, Va. His first ancestor in Va was George Bowman who built the old Bowman homestead, called Fort Bowman or Harmony Hall, on Cedar Creek near Strasburg in 1751. WH Bowman settled in Peach Grove, Rockingham co, Va.”

Family tradition and records suggest that William Harpine Bowman is likely to be the son of George Bowman and Elizabeth Harpine of Rockingham co, Virginia.

  vii.   ORRA ELIZABETH BOWMAN, b. December 1871, Rockingham co, Va; d. April 20, 1951. Orra Elizabeth Bowman was living with her brother, Archibald Bowman in the 1900 census of Rockingham county Virginia and with ther widowed sister, Hetty Whitesel in the 1910 and 1920 censuses of Rockingham county Virginia. She did not marry. She died in 1951 at age 79 and is buried with her sister, Hetty Whitesel.

(2) LENA ODESSA POLLARD, October 1913; d. September 22, 1931; m. (3) MARY CROSTHWAIT, June 01, 1933; b. May 12, 1881, Iowa; d. December 21, 1938; m. (4) EDNA AMANDA HOFFMAN, 1940, Kingfisher, Kingfisher co, Oklahoma; b. December 05, 1907, Kingfisher, Kingfisher co, Oklahoma; d. January 20, 2003, Kingfisher, Kingfisher co, Oklahoma. He had no issue.
