According to the Illinois Death Records, Alfred Gassman died on the 21st of January 1920 at the age of fifty-two.
The records of researcher Rhonda Hansch indicate that his death is reported in the Freeport Daily Bulletin on the 18th of January 1920.
Following his death, Louise Staderman was secondly married to Fred Prasse.

Mount Carmel [Illinois]- Emmert A Gassman 80, of Mount Carmel, formerly of Lena, died there January 13, 1986 at Wabash General Hospital. He was born in Lena on August 2, 1905, the son of Alfred and Louise (Staderman) Gassman. He married Leola Goedece on August 2, 1959. Until 1959, he lived in Lena, where he was a teacher and principal in Lena public schools for more than 30 years. He also taught at the University of Illinois for one year and at the high school in Mount Carmel and Wabash Valley College. Surviving is his widow. Services will be held Jan 15 at Short Memorial Chapel, Mount Carmel. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Carmel. A memorial fund has been established for Zion Lutheran Church, Mount Carmel. The Illinois Death Records indicate that Arch A Winters died on the 7th of March 1939.
It also reports the death of a Clayton J Winters on the 15th of November 1947. This may be their son.
Josephine Gassman Winters died on the 15th of June 1966 in Eleroy, Stephenson county Illinois.

Their daughter, Leona Gassman, was married to Arthur Klaas in 1919 in Eleroy Stephenson county Illinois.
According to the Illinois Death Records, Alvin C Gassman died on the 7th of May 1939 in Freeport Stephenson county Illinois.
There is also a record of an Anna Gassman who died in 1946 in Freeport Stephenson county Illinois.
Researcher Rhonda Hansch indicates death reports in the Freeport Journal Standard for Alvin Gassman on the 8th of May 1939
and for Mrs Alvin C Gassman on the 25th of July 1946.

Cord Leweke and Flora Gassman had a son Vernon Carl Leweke who appears to have been born in 1896.
His death as a young man is recorded in the Illinois Death Records on the 19th of January 1919 in West Point township Stephenson county Illinois.
Cord H Leweke died on the 7th of May 1935 in Freeport Stephenson county Illinois. No death record has been found under the name Flora Leweke.
She may have remarried.

The Hermine Gassman Photo Album includes a picture of a young boy with the caption "our youngest-Freddie". It seems likely that this is Fred Gassman, son of Charles Gassman and Mary Leseman.

Matilda Brueckner Neels apparently did not have children. Edna Hoffman Bowman preserved the papers of her estate settlement in 1961 in Stephenson county Illinois. They give a very thourough listing of Gassman cousins, nieces and nephews at that date. See Matilda Breuckner Neels Estate Papers.

Obituary of Lawrence Gassman:
Lawrence C Gassman 77, Pecatonica, died at 11:30 am Friday 2 Jan 1981 in Alma Nelson Manor, Rockford, after a long illness.
Born in Lena, 25 Dec 1903, son of Edward and Pauline Polker Gassman. Graduate of Lena High School. Received his BS and MS degrees at the University of Illinois.
Married to the former Mary Boeke in Lena, March 21, 1930. Mr Gassman came to Pecatonica in 1929 and taught math and social studies until 1948
when he was appointed principal of Pecatonica schools. He continued in that capacity until 1954 when he was appointed acting superintendent of District 321,
he became superintendent of the Pecatonica schools until his retirement 1 Jul 1969. For a few years he was in partnership with Al Newcomer in the insurance business.
When Mr Newcomer left the city, Mr Gassman continued in the business for a number of years. Mr Gassman was a member of the Pecatonica Congregational Church,
also member of A W Rawson Masonic Lodge No 145 A F and A M; Freeport Consistory; and Tebala Shrine Rockford.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Donald, Furlong, Pa; two daughters Janet, Earlysville, VA and Mrs Bill (Eileen) Long Arlington, Va;
a brother Elmer, Lena; two sisters, Luella Gassman, Freeport and Mrs Laura Downing, Rockford; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by six brothers and a sister.
Services at 1 pm Monday Jan 3 in Pecatonica Congregational Church, with the Rev R H Hosto pastor, officiating. Burial in Lena Cemetery, Lena.
Arrangements by Knapp Funeral Home, Petatonica in lieu of flowers memorial funds have been established for Pecatonica Congregational Church
and the Shriner's Crippled children's Hospital.
