  • Notes
    • William Fry, the fourth child of Joshua Fry and Mary Micou, was born 6 Feb 1743, probably in Essex county Virginia, before the family moved to Albermarle county Virginia. He may be the son mentioned in Parson Robert Rose's Diary, 10 June 1749, " . . left Col. Fry's where his son was ill of a Distemper that answered the description of St. Vitus' Dance." This condition, also known as Sydenham's chorea, is characterized by rapid, uncoordinated jerking movements affecting primarily the face, feet and hands. It most often occurs in children with acute rheumatic fever. Most victims recover from all symptons within two years.

William Fry is included in his father's 1754 Albermarle county Virginia Will:

I give to my Son William my lands on Willis's branches & on Glovers Road Containing about eleven hundred and Eighty Acres being three tracts included and Hitte in the Secretaries office my Said Son has in his own name two Tracts on Tongue Quarter and Buck and doe of Willy's lately included So that there will be no haste to Seat it but must be minded in time.

No further records have been discovered, beyond a mention that he died 1 July 1760, unmarried. If our dates are correct, William Fry was seventeen years of age at his death.
