- Mary G. Edmonston, daughter of James Edmonston and Mary Polly Carling, married William J. Allen. William, reared in Indiana, came to Illinois in 1844 where he married. He left wife and children with her parents and went to Missouri where he had some land. He went on to Oregon and then to California where he died, probably in the 1850's and no doubt involved in the California Gold Rush. Mary Edmonston Allen died in 1869 in Adams Co, IL.
