Obituary of Adolph Swanda

Adolph William "A.W." Swanda, age 102, went home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2011. Adolph was born on August 13, 1908, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of John and Mary Kate (Ruzicka) Swanda. Adolph was in the U.S. Army and served his country in World War II before being honorably discharged. In his earlier days, he was employed with the Oklahoma and Times newspaper as a printer. Adolph prided himself on his independence. He enjoyed tinkering around the house, flying his airplane, and yardwork. Adolph was a very devoted husband to his wife Nola. Survivors include two sisters, Irene Koelsch of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Helyn Koelsch of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nola Swanda and their two baby daughters; two brothers, Tophel Swanda and George Swanda; two sisters, Matilda Randich and Margarete (Margaret) Koelsch; and a baby sister, Swanda. Graveside Services for Adolph will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Rosehill Burial Cemetery, 6001 N.W. Grand Boulevard, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma under the direction of the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
