Obituary of Peter Swanda


Requiem high mass for Peter "Pete" Swanda, 89, of 1137 NW 9, will be at 3 pm Saturday in St Joseph's Catholic Church, with burial in Fairlawn cemetery. Vigil services for Swanda, who with his brothers Frank and Charles founded the Swanda Brothers Roofing Co, will be at 7:30 pm Friday in Smith and Kernke Funeral Home. He was a native of Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. He came to the United States at the age of one and the family first lived at Carnegie. His parents homesteaded a farm at Yukon when the territory was first opened, and he later lived at Bison. He had retired from the roofing business several years ago. He was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Dena Peschl, of the home, and Mrs Frank Kozak, 1721 Coventry Lane; a son, Franklin J, Rogers, Arkansas; fiver grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
