In August of 1922, Max Robberts and Ethel Hoffman had a little son who died just after birth and is buried with them in the Kingfisher Oklahoma Cemetery. Shortly after that time that Ethel Hoffman Robberts and her husband moved to Newkirk, Kay county Oklahoma where Max Robberts was a merchant. Their daughter, Maxine Robberts was born on the 24th of April 1927. The family appears together in the 1930 census.

Eventually, the Max Robberts family moved to Winfield, Kansas where he continued his association with the Kay and Kaw Furniture Store for many years.
Max Robberts died on the 10th of September 1957. His obituary gives further details of his life. Ethel Hoffman Robberts lived almost twenty years after the death of her husband. She died on the 31st of July 1975 in Santa Ana, California. They are buried together in the Kingfisher Oklahoma Cemetery.

Max Robberts Dies Suddenly
Max M Robberts 69, for many years associated with Kay and Kaw stores in Newkirk and
Winfield, died at 4:30 pm Tuesday in a local doctor's office. He had been suffering with
heart trouble for 15 years.
Funeral services will be held at 9 am Friday at Morris Memorial chapel with Rev
George Richards officiating. Graveside rites and interment will be at 2 pm in the
cemetery at Kingfisher, Okla.
Mr Robberts was born Feb 3 1888 at David City, Neb. the son of Mr and Mrs Jacob C
Robberts. They moved to Kingfisher, Okla in 1902 and Mr Robberts attended schools there
and was graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1908. He was married to Ethel
Hoffman Jan 6, 1921 at Enid by his father, Judge J C Robberts.
He served in the army in World War I and was on his way to France at time the
armistice was signed. He moved to Newkirk in 1922 and for 20 years was associated with
the Kay and Kaw Mercantile Co there before moving to Winfield in 1942 to operate the Kay
and Kaw store here.
He was a member of the Methodist church, Masonic lodge, Eastern Star, American
Legion, Elks lodge at Blackwell, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, OU Alumni Assn., Western
Retail Implement and Hardware Assn.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs Maxine Fisher of Houston, Texas, one
brother, George B Robberts of Waukomis, Okla, two sisters, Mrs Gus Nelson of Waukomis and
Mrs Charles Van Duyn of Eugene, Ore.

Elba Hoffman Garrett's obituary, published in 1981, gives a good accounting of her life:

Garrett
Mrs Elba Josephine, age 83, 4700 LaRissa Lane. Died at Baptist Medical Center, September
26, 1981. Mrs Garrett was born the second daughter of Mr and Mrs Adolph G Hoffman on
February 25, 1898 and was reared on a farm near Ruthven, Iowa. During the early years of
1900 she came to Oklahoma Territory with her parents to live on land that they bought
southwest of Kingfisher. Here she attended the Union Hall School, District 95, a one room
rural school. In 1918 her parents retired to live in Kingfisher. On January 20, 1920 she
married Otis Garrett, a WWI veteran, also of Kingfisher. They immediately moved to OKC
where they made their home these past 61 years. Mrs Garrett was a talented artist
painting in oils and watercolor. For long years, she was a member of Kappa Pi Honorary
Art Fraternity, Lambda alumni chapter of Oklahoma City University, and served in the
various offices and as their President. She was an enthusiastic horse-woman. She bred
Tennessee walking horses and owned a state champion jumping horse, a winner for 3 years.
She was a member of the Church of Religious Science, Oklahoma City. She served as
President of the Women's Guild and as President of the Women's Guild and as President of
the Adult Discussion Group of her church. She was also a member of the Order of the
Eastern Star. Mrs Garrett was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be
remembered as a beautiful character greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded
in death by her parents and by her older sister, Mrs Max M (Ethel) Robberts, Irvine,
California. In addition to her husband, Otis Garrett, she is survived by her son, Richard
W Garrett, and her daughter Mrs Robert H (Georgia) Vaughn, both of Oklahoma City. 7
grandchildren, Steve, Pat and Mike Garrett; Dale, Gary and DeeAnn Vaughn, and Mrs RC
(Vicki) Morrison, Detroit, Michigan. Also 5 great grandchildren. Sister, Mrs George L
(Edna) Bowman, Kingfisher, Niece, Mrs Frank (Maxine Robberts) Fisher, Irvine, California.
Services 11 am Tuesday, Hahn-Cook Street and Draper Chapel. Interment Memorial Park
Cemetery.
7. EDNA AMANDA HOFFMAN was born on the 5th of December 1907 in Kingfisher, Kingfisher co,
Oklahoma, and died January 20, 2003 in Kingfisher, Kingfisher co, Oklahoma. She married
GEORGE LYNN BOWMAN 1940 in Kingfisher, Kingfisher co, Oklahoma, son of William Bowman and
Emily Huffman. He was born October 09, 1874 in Rockingham co, Virginia, and died August
21, 1957 in Kingfisher, Kingfisher co, Oklahoma.
