8. CHARLES was born about 1847 in Stephenson county Illinois. He was the first child of John Rosenstiel and Mary Fidler. He did not marry and he has been difficult to locate in census records. But, he does appear in the 1920 census of Jefferson township Stephenson county Illinois, living with his sister Mary and her husband George Collin. In that census Charles Rosenstiel is shown as seventy-five years of age. He died two years later on the 3rd of January 1922 and is buried in Greenwood cemetery, near Lena in Stephenson county Illinois.


9. WILLIAM ROSENSTIEL was born the 18th of January 1849 in Stephenson county Illinois. He was the second son of John Rosenstiel and Mary Fidler. Rosenstiel family records indicate that he had two marriages. The first marriage was to Sis Johnson on the 2nd of October 1875. Twin sons, Edward William and William F Rosenstiel were born on the 7th of March 1876. Sis Johnson Rosenstiel must have died around the time of childbirth as William Rosenstiel secondly married her sister, SARAH NARCISSA JOHNSON in the Fall of 1876. Sarah Johnson was the widow of a Mr Marble at the time of her marriage to William Rosenstiel.

The above information is probably correct, but it does not align well with the information in the 1880 census of Erin township Stephenson county Illinois. Details from the census records show:

William Rosenstiel died on the 23rd of April 1932 and Sarah Johnson Rosenstiel died on the 23rd of September 1936. They are buried in the Lena Burial Park in Stephenson county Illinois.

10. JOHN ROSENSTIEL was born on the 25th of November 1854 in Stephenson county Illinois, son of John Rosenstiel and Mary Fidler. Some family records identify him as John Richard Rosenstiel. He appears with his parents in the 1860 and 1870 census of Harlem township Stephenson county Illinois. His marriage to CATHERINE MARGARET LYONS is recorded on the 24th of February 1874 in Martintown, Green county Wisconsin. The young couple made their home in Harlem township Stephenson county Illinois where they appear in the 1880 and 1900 census. Children shown in the census are George Rosenstiel, Leander Rosenstiel, Fannie Rosenstiel, Clarence Rosenstiel, and Otis Rosenstiel. Rhonda Hansch's records also show a son Stanley Rosenstiel, born after the 1900 census.

16. EDWIN OLIVER ROSENSTIEL was born on the 8th of October 1854, the second son and fourth child of Charles Rosenstiel and Anna Gillman. He was commonly known by the name Oliver. The records of Rhonda Hansch give his name as Egbert Oliver Rosenstiel. He appears with his parents in the 1860 and 1870 census of Silver Creek township Stephenson county Illinois. He was married on the 27th of June 1878 to GRACE EMERICH HEWITT and the young couple set up housekeeping in Freeport Stephenson county Illinois. By the 1900 census they appear in Freeport with five children: Mary L Rosenstiel, Charles H Rosenstiel, Susan Rosenstiel, Hewitt Rosenstiel and Melvin Rosenstiel. His occupation is given as "commercial man".

17. JEROME JACOB ROSENSTIEL was born on the 20th of November 1859 in Stephenson county Illinois. He was the third son of Charles Rosenstiel and Anna Gilmann. He appears in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census with his parents in Silver Creek township Stephenson county Illinois. He was married on the 23rd of May 1883 to LOUELLA BYERS. The marriage was recorded in Naperville DuPage county Illinois. They made their home in Freeport Stephenson county Illinois and appear there in the 1900 census with one son Ralph B Rosenstiel born in 1884. Jerome Rosenstiel's occupation is given as "traveling salesman". Family records indicate that he was secondly married on the 4th of October 1911 to Minette Ziems.

18. HOWARD HENRY ROSENSTIEL was born on the 13th of August 1864. He was the youngest son of Charles Rosenstiel and Anna Gillman, born six years after his next oldest sibling. He appears with his parents in the 1870 and 1880 census of Silver Creek township Stephenson county Illinois. On the 22nd of June 1899 he was married to MABEL JACKSON in Pecatonica Winnebago county Illinois. The following year they appear with his parents in the 1900 census of Stephenson county Illinois with a newborn son, Jackson Rosenstiel. His occupation is given as distiller.

In the Freeport Daily Journal dated 9 July 1908 there appears a story about a young boy, Louis Schlamp, who was 'accidentally killed at the Rosenstiel Farm'.

Howard Rosenstiel died on the 2nd of February 1939. His wife Mabel Jackson Rosenstiel lived another thirty years and they are both buried in the City Cemetery of Freeport Stephenson county Illinois.

26. LORENZO ROSENSTIEL was born on the 22nd of March 1848 near Eleroy in Stephenson county Illinois. He was the first born son of Henry Rosenstiel and Jane Pickard. He appears with his parents in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census of Stephenson county Illinois. On the 18th of January 1872 he was married to ELIZA E STOCKS in Stephenson county Illinois and they appear together in the 1880 census of Erin Township Stephenson county Illinois with their two young children Ervin Rosenstiel and Mildred Rosenstiel. Twenty years later the 1900 census shows Lorenzo Rosenstiel as a widower, living with his daughter Mildred, still in Erin Township.

27. HARLOW ROSENSTIEL was born on the 26th of July 1856 in Stephenson county Illinois. He was one of the younger sons of Henry Rosenstiel and Jane Pickard. He appears with his parents in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census of Stephenson county Illinois. He was first married to LUCY STOCKS on the 17th of July 1879. There is no record of issue from this marriage. He was secondly married to SOPHIA KRIEGER on the 10th of September 1882 in Stephenson county Illinois. The 1900 census shows them living in Harlem township Stephenson county Illinois with their two daughters, Bessie Rosenstiel and Alta Rosenstiel.

28. HERMAN ROSENSTIEL was born on the 11th of February 1859 in Stephenson county Illinois. He was one of the younger sons of Henry Rosenstiel and Jane Pickard. He appears with his parents in the 1860 and 1870 census of Erin township Stephenson county Illinois. Records indicate that on 26th of October 1876, in Stephenson county Illinois, he was married to LOA LAVINIA PHELPS . In 1876 the young couple would have been ages 17 and 14. It seems more likely that this marriage occurred in 1878 or 1879. They appear together in the 1880 census of Erin township Stephenson county Illinois with an unnamed one- month-old son. Eventually the family removed to Algona in Kossuth county Iowa. A very nice record of this family was submitted to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City Utah by Clarence A Wood. He names the children of Herman Rosenstiel and Loa Phelps: Harry Earl Rosenstiel, Vera Jane Rosenstiel, Sidney Lynn Rosenstiel, Doris Merle Rosenstiel, Agnes Anna Rosenstiel, Pareppa Louise Rosenstiel and Kurtzie Rosenstiel.

Herman Rosenstiel died on the 13th of January 1917 at the age of fifty-seven. He was buried in Algona Kossuth county Iowa. Loa Phelps Rosenstiel died a few years later on the 10th of April 1919 and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cedar Rapids Linn county Iowa.

29. CHARLES OLIVER ROSENSTIEL was the youngest son of Henry Rosenstiel and Jane Pickard. He was born in March of 1868 in Lena Stephenson county Illinois. Family information records his marriage to GEORGIA ANN PRINDLE on the 28th of September 1889 but the location is not certain. They appear together in the 1900 census of Byron township Buchanan county Iowa with their two young sons, Loran E Rosenstiel and Clifford Rosenstiel.

Charles Rosenstiel died on the 17th of Feb 1957 in Oelwein Fayette county Iowa and his wife Georgia Prindle Rosenstiel died a few years later on the 13th of January 1960. They are buried in the Whitney cemetery near Winthrop in Buchanan county Iowa.

30. GRANT ROSENSTIEL was born 1867, and died November 19, 1931 in Ryegate, Golden Valley co, Montana. He married (1) MARIA METZ November 30, 1884 in Stephenson co, Illinois. He married (2) ANNIE BRENNER October 02, 1888 in Stephenson co, Illinois. He married (3) SARAH ADELINE BROWN Abt. 1902. She died 1952.
