Rhonda Hansch's work on the Rosenstiel Family
Rhonda Hansch has written a very ambitious family history which includes a 614 page section reflecting on her Rosenstiel and related families. When I corresponded with her in May 2005 she generously shared a copy of the Rosenstiel section of her book on CD. It was fascinating. She begins by crediting a number of family members and researchers who contributed to her compilation. In particular she references:
“Rosenstiel, Pickard and Skeel Families” by Maurine Pickett Pearson
“The Charles Henry Rosenstiel Family of Freeport and Stephenson County, Illinois 1840-1983”
originally begun by Dr Henry C Rosenstiel and completed by Jane McGinnis.
“Heritage of the Parks Children” by Aletha Fern Rosenstiel Parks
The early section of her book includes an interesting account of the Rosenstiel family, living in the area around Sounderhausen in Germany beginning in 1645. Most of the information on early generations was contributed by Wilbur Rosenstiel, who goes by Mike Dixie.
Rhonda Hansch’s book includes full christian names and many complete dates for births, marriages and deaths for Rosenstiel family members. These have come from a wide variety of sources, such as county histories, cemetery records, marriage licenses, and obituaries. With her permission, I have used many of her dates in my database, but I have not always been able to refer back to the original source.
Rhonda Hansch would be delighted to hear from you. She enjoys exchanging family information and can give you a much more complete account of the Rosenstiel Family with good source documentation. Her book includes vital records, family stories, biographies, photographs, obituaries and much more.
