Joseph G. Thompson, youngest son of Martha Thomas Robinson and Newton Jasper Thompson, was a member of the St. Louis Fire Department. Joe was killed while fighting a fire on 13 May 1915.

A telegram was received here last Thursday night stating that Capt Joseph Thompson of the St Louis fire department had died in that city from injuries received in a hose wagon colliding with a street car a few hours previous. He was a son of Mr and Mrs Jasper Thompson of Hopewell.
